Title:
Director, Professional Advocacy
Explain a typical day in your job.
My role is all about relationship-building through education. As part of the Professional Advocacy team, I connect with health professionals on behalf of Tom's of Maine to help them understand and care for consumers interested in effective natural products. I strive to be a trusted resource for health professionals seeking the best information for their patients, and for my Tom's of Maine community, whether it's a question on building the business with professionals or having wisdom teeth removed. There's really no such thing as a "typical" day, but everyday includes making connections (i.e. a lot of email), some teaching, lots of learning, and a healthy dose of fun.
What attracted you to Tom's of Maine?
My background is in dental public health and I've spent most of my career teaching, at the University of Colorado and Tufts University dental schools. The culture of creativity at Tom's of Maine was very appealing to me, along with the opportunity to continue to practice public health from a corporate viewpoint. But what sold me was Tom's employee volunteer benefit – I wanted to be part of a company where there was real support for making a difference in the world, on an individual basis as well as through our corporate commitments to social and environmental issues.
What is one word you'd use to describe Tom's?
Passionate.
What's your favorite Tom's product and why?
Silly Strawberry Anticavity toothpaste is the best tasting way to have fun keeping your teeth healthy. All those "adult" flavors like mint are over-rated! ☺
