Tom's of Maine 2011 50 States for Good Community Sponsorships
Please note that submission of this application serves as confirmation that you have reviewed and agree to the detailed Terms and Conditions.
- Tom's of Maine will distribute up to a total of $150,000 in sponsorship funding in 2011, distributed as up to one (1) $50,000 sponsorship and five (5) $20,000 sponsorships. All applications for 2011 funding must be received by 5:00 PM ET Tuesday, June 21, 2011.
- Tom's of Maine does not provide sponsorship to individuals. Organizations that receive support must be nonprofit organizations with proof of 501(c)(3) status in good standing. Individuals who wish to seek funding for their community projects are encouraged to work directly with a local nonprofit organization.
- Tom's of Maine does not provide sponsorship or product support to organizations that conduct animal testing.

Phase I
All organizations that have filled out the above check boxes will go through an initial screening based on the following criteria. This piece is important for you to fill out in order to be considered in the next phase of judging.
Objective Numerical Filters:
a) # of Volunteers Mobilized (See Application: Section 2, Question G.)
b) # of People Positively Impacted (See Application: Section 2, Questions I.)
c) Lasting Impact on Community (See Application: Section 2, Question J.)
Phase II
Top Tier of applications will go through an external judging panel who will rate the following:
a) Use of Community Volunteers (50%): How does the project engage and involve members of the general community in which the organization operates on a long term basis?
b) Achievability (25%): Is the project something that can be completed and measured within 6 months?
c) Positive impact (25%): How will the program make a positive impact in the community? What enduring change will come from the project?
Phase III
Top twenty (20) Applications will be posted on www.50statesforgood.com, and the public will be encouraged to vote from Tuesday, August 2, 2011 — Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Visitors can vote once (1) per day. Project voting standings will be displayed on www.50statesforgood.com and will be public until the last week of voting, on or about September 6, 2011. At the completion of the final voting phase, the six (6) projects with the highest vote totals will be declared as the selected projects to receive funding, as determined by the consumer vote.
