Our 2012 Project Sponsorship Winners
We are so excited to reveal our five winners of the 2012 $20,000 project sponsorships. Each winner will make a difference in their community, and that's the best news of all.

Aaron E. Henry Community Health Services Center
Clarksdale, MS
The Aaron E. Henry Community Health Services Center will use the Tom's of Maine funding to expand access to dental services through the school-based clinics and the new mobile medical clinic. In addition to oral exams and preventive therapy, X-rays and curative dental procedures will be offered on site.
“With over 40 percent of our children in poverty, there is a decreased priority on oral healthcare. Therefore, many children fail to get the care needed and end up with chronic health problems later in life. We are elated to receive the Tom's of Maine funding because it will help us reduce disparities by providing mobile clinic services at schools and communities that lack access to oral health services.”

Ben Archer Health Center
Hatch, NM
The Ben Archer Health Center plans to use the Tom's of Maine Dental Health for All funding to purchase a digital panoramic x-ray machine to provide digital dental x-ray services. The project will make a positive impact in the community by providing services to individuals that would not otherwise receive dental services.
“We are delighted to be selected by Tom's of Maine for funds to purchase a panoramic x-ray machine for our new health center. We can't thank them enough for their help. We will put the equipment to good use by providing dental services to the many underserved people in our area.”

Christ Health Center
Birmingham, AL
With the funding, the Christ Health Center will purchase equipment and hire a patient care coordinator, both of which have been long-term dreams. This funding will allow the clinic to immediately increase the number of patients it serves each day, reduce the administrative burden on its clinical providers and provide even better service to existing and future patients.
“Each day we receive more and more requests for new patient appointments. Receiving funds from Tom's of Maine Dental Health for All will allow us to increase our patient visits by more than 640 a year, which means that we can serve more patients in our community and surrounding communities needing quality, comprehensive discounted dental care.”

HealthPoint Family Care
Covington, KY
HealthPoint Family Care will use the Tom's of Maine Dental Health for All funding for the purchase of portable dental equipment that will travel to low-income schools in Northern Kentucky. HealthPoint's dentists and hygienists will be able to examine and treat children who otherwise may not get to a dentist office.
“Taking a portable dental office with clinical staff directly to low-income and uninsured students at their schools removes nearly all the barriers children have to receiving oral health care. The Tom's of Maine funding will help make this possible.”

Kids Smiles
Washington, D.C.
Kids Smiles will use the Tom's of Maine Dental Health for All funding to expand community outreach prevention, screening and dental restoration services to children in underserved areas of Washington, D.C. Kids Smiles will purchase an additional portable dental chair and clinical equipment (including a mobile delivery system, dental instruments and x-ray materials) that the organization will take to schools, doubling the number of children served in its prevention outreach efforts.
“Kids Smiles is thrilled to receive this important funding from Tom's of Maine, which recognizes the critical need for oral health care for our most vulnerable children. We appreciate their trust in our work, which will have a significant impact on the children of Washington, D.C. who cannot always access quality dental care. By bringing screening, prevention and restorative services to children at school, we are not only enhancing their oral health, but their overall health.”
