The benefit of working in Customer Service and Logistics is that every day brings a new challenge. With our growing business, it can range from setting up a new customer our system to working with a supplier on producing our packaging in a sustainable way. I love being able to work on the brand from beginning to end and seeing a new product we developed as a team on shelf or online is the best feeling.
I have always had a passion for protecting our environment and animals both locally and globally. As I began to learn about Tom's, I instantly knew it was a company and brand I wanted to be a part of. The work we do for our planet is just as important as the end products we make everyday.

We consider our customers to be an integral part of the Tom’s community. We know that our customers are people who try to do good in their communities every day, and their feedback and values are always considered as we make the decisions that shape Tom’s of Maine. I work closely with the people who respond to our customers' letters, e-mails, and phone calls. I’m also a part of the team working to make sure our blog, e-newsletter, and Facebook page are interesting, and places where our customers can share their thoughts and opinions. We are always looking for new ways to build a better sense of community with our customers.
Before Tom’s I spent my entire career working for environmental and educational nonprofits. I came to Tom’s because I love the philosophy that a business can be socially responsible and financially successful. It’s been a real plus for me that a part of my work at Tom’s has been helping to create programs that have generated support for many incredible nonprofit organizations working to do good in their communities.
My new favorite is the Wicked Fresh!™ Cool Peppermint Toothpaste. I love the taste, and it really does leave my mouth feeling clean and fresh for a long time!
My day starts with one of the best commutes in the world - passing through the beautiful beach communities of southern Maine. Once here, I am always greeted with a smile from many of the passionate and dedicated people that work at Tom's - a great start to any day! After settling in, I get to do something that I absolutely love, uncovering what our customers are looking for in natural deodorants and bar soaps. Working to bring new products to market in more environmentally sustainable ways is as fulfilling as it gets.

Besides starting off with a large cup of coffee and lots of emails, there really is no typical day for me. I spend a lot of my day on the phone and in meetings with cross-functional team members working on all aspects of new product launches from identifying the consumer need to developing the packaging and formula for a new product, to launching in stores across the country. I find myself constantly trying to strike a balance between delivering shorter term project milestones and developing longer term new product concepts and strategies.
The opportunity to work with a team of smart, motivated, and dedicated people on natural products that help you live well attracted me to Tom’s. I am impressed by the uncompromised values that the company lives by and its location couldn’t be better for a native New Englander like me. In addition, the opportunity to bring my Goldendoodle, “Maple”, to work with me is icing on the cake!

I am very lucky that I get to manage and oversee all the branding and marketing for Tom's of Maine toothpastes, mouthwashes and flosses. What's cool is that not only I am developing and testing new product ideas farther out to meet the changing needs of our consumers, I am also developing new, innovative ways to get more people to try the products we sell today. It's cool that I can have one foot in the future and the other foot in the present.
The people, the products, the company values and the community were perfectly aligned with me. Oh, and Maine of course. I grew up in Maine and love everything about this special state.
Our Simply White toothpaste. It tastes great and, in my biased and humble opinion, I think it's the best whitening toothpaste out there.
I am on a team of 5 mechanics and we work together to keep the making, and packaging machines running smoothly. We are responsible for cleaning filling machines after a product run, prepping for flavor changes, and changing production lines from one configuration to another. And when things break down, we make repairs as quickly as possible. There rarely is a dull moment.
The fact that Tom’s really encourages the world community to take better care of our planet and each other.

I live in the Pacific Northwest and therefore the majority of my days start with a few cups of freshly ground coffee from a coffee press and/or a pot of Oolong tea. Much of my day is on the phone or in person meetings with customers or team members at Tom’s in Kennebunk. There is a lot to manage and oversee across all of the eCommerce customers!
Tom’s is a brand founded upon doing good and doing right, treating people and place with the utmost respect. Our culture encourages each of us to give back to the community and share our passion with the greater team. We also take pride in the products we make and carefully selecting the ingredients we use. Coming from the Northwest this culture was a perfect fit for me.

My day starts with checking out online conversation to see what is happening around our brand, and to reach out to consumers who may have product questions. I feel like a fly on the wall, learning the inside scoop on Tom’s! I am also responsible for creating and posting content to our various social media channels, and then reporting on how the content performed. I love that my job allows me to interact with people all over the company, strategizing how to incorporate social into their promotions and activities.
Honestly? Location. I wanted a job that allowed me to stay in Maine. Working for a company with values so similar to my own is icing on the cake.
