Diane Peterson, RDH, M.Ed. Diane Peterson, RDH, M.Ed.
East Coast Professional Advocate



Diane Peterson arrived at Tom’s of Maine in June 2007. She is responsible for expanding the East Coast Professional Advocacy territory as well as maintaining the professional relationships currently established between the dental community and Tom’s of Maine on the East Coast. In her capacity as a professional advocate, Diane focuses on sharing Tom’s of Maine products and values with students in all dental educational disciplines and creating and maintaining partnerships with dental/dental hygiene/dental assisting associations in this territory.

Ms. Peterson’s professional background in dental hygiene spans three decades and includes expertise in the areas of clinical dental hygiene, education, and leadership. She is a graduate of the University of Vermont with degrees in dental hygiene, human development, and educational leadership. Prior to joining the professional advocacy team at Tom’s of Maine, Diane was an assistant professor at Vermont Technical College in the Department of Dental Hygiene, where she taught courses in dental materials, community oral health, and clinical dental hygiene.

Ms. Peterson is the current President of the Vermont Dental Hygienists’ Association and has chaired many other committees for the organization over the last two decades. Her other professional memberships include the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, the American Dental Education Association, the American Association of Public Health Dentistry, and the National Dental Hygiene Honor Society.
