Kerry Maguire, D.D.S., M.S.P.H. Director of Professional Advocacy Dr. Maguire, a general dentist with advanced training in Public Health, joined Tom's of Maine in June 2003. Her primary professional interests are health promotion, disease prevention, and access to oral care. Her career has included clinical, academic, and corporate positions, including time as associate professor and head of the Division of Public Health at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine from 1999 to 2003 and Academic Relations Manager for Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals from 1996 to 1999. Dr. Maguire received both her dental and public health degrees from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and directed the University of Colorado School of Dentistry's service learning program before moving to New England. She served as a staff dentist for the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs and has worked with research animals at the University of Colorado and the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine. Dr. Maguire is active in the American Dental Education Association, American Dental Association, and American Association of Public Health Dentistry, among other national organizations dedicated to oral health and health access. She enjoys travel that includes sharing her skills and visited Zambia to work in an AIDS hospice in December 2004 and 2005. She is also a volunteer puppy trainer for the National Education for Assistance Dogs Service (www.NEADS.org).
