Carthamus tinctorius (safflower) seed oil

What is it?

Carthamus tinctorius (safflower) seed oil is a natural oil made from the seeds of the safflower plant.

What does it do?

Safflower seed oil is one of the natural plant oils used in our unscented antiperspirant to add a pleasant neutral odor without fragrance.

How is it made?

Our Stewardship Model guides us to select ingredients which have been processed in a manner that supports our philosophy of human and environmental health.

Safflower seed oil is mechanically extracted from safflower seeds, bleached and then filtered for purification.

What are the alternatives?

Other nut and seed based essential oils include shea butter, coconut, jojoba and argan. There are synthetic alternatives to safflower seed oil, but they do not meet our Stewardship Model standards for natural, responsible and sustainable.

Is this the right option for me?

Safflower seed oil is nontoxic and Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)1.
