Organic cymbopogon flexuosus oil (lemongrass oil)

What is it?

Organic cymbopogon flexuosus is an essential oil extracted from the lemongrass plant.

What does it do?

Lemongrass oil is used for its natural and safe odor-fighting properties in our Natural Deodorants.

How is it made?

Our Stewardship Model guides us to select ingredients which have been processed in a manner that supports our philosophy of human and environmental health.

The essential oil is produced by steam distillation from lemongrass leaves.

What are the alternatives?

Tea tree and lavender are other essential oil alternatives.  Synthetic fragrances could be used in place of essential oils, but they do not meet our Stewardship Model standards for natural, responsible and sustainable.

Is this the right option for me?

Lemongrass oil has a long history of safe use as an ingredient in a variety of purposes due to its antiseptic, antibacterial, deodorizing and stimulating properties. It is listed by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to be Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS).

Tom’s of Maine recognizes that no two people are alike, and even with naturally derived ingredients, some individuals may develop an allergic reaction that is unique to them.
